Abstract: Carbon quantum dots (CQD) and iron oxide nanoparticles (ION) are ideal for the construction of multimodal fluorescent and magnetic probes for medical imaging. In this work, multimodal fluorescent and magnetic nanoparticles (CQD-ION) were synthesized and to achieve an efficient targeting and detecting ovarian cancer cells, CQD-IONs were conjugated with a TOV6 DNA aptamer specific for stress-induced phosphoprotein 1 (STIP1). The synthesis, characterization, biological and targeting properties of nanoprobe, and its capability as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging and fluorescence microscopy were investigated. The proposed nanoprobe were showed optimal size, good biocompatibility. Also, its applicability to discriminating STIP1-positive cells from STIP1-negative cells were successfully showed. According to results and its fluorescence and T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging, the proposed nanoprobe demonstrated a great potential to use in biological imaging.
