Nickel oxide nanoparticles were coupled with ozone for catalytic ozonation of Malachite green (MG) in a semi-batch system. The catalyst features were characterized using XRD and FE-SEM techniques. The effect of several operating factors including initial concentration of dye, catalyst amount, O3 concentration, and reaction time was evaluated by experimental design using response surface methodology (RSM). Based on the results, the MG removal efficiency increased by increasing catalyst amount, O3 concentration, and catalytic ozonation duration, while it decreased by increment of initial dye concentration. Under RSM based optimal conditions more than 60% of dye removed.
