In recent years, magnetic nanoparticles such as iron oxide, have gained scientists’ attention due to their numerous applications and properties including bio separation, drug delivery, sensors and etc. Although these class of nanoparticles are desirable and useful, they lack stability and also optical properties. In this article, we synthesized iron oxide nanoparticles by two methods, namely co-precipitation and pulsed laser ablation and described their advantages. After synthesis, we coat the synthesized nanoparticles by pulsed laser ablation method in colloidal solution. This combination decreases the toxicity of iron oxide nanoparticles and increases their stability and their applications and properties can be improved by changing the thickness of the shell. For characterization, we used SEM, FE-SEM, UV-Visible spectroscopy and TEM. These analysis confirmed the coating and also revealed the size and size distribution of the iron oxide-gold core-shell nanoparticles .
