In this study, biodegradable composites of polybutylene succinate/poly lactic acid (PBS/PLA) with a ratio of 40/60 were prepared through physical melt-blending at the presence of hydrophilic chitosan nanoparticles. The biopolymer blends PBS/PLA (40/60) with different amounts (1, 3 and 5%wt) of chitosan nanoparticles were also prepared using an internal mixer at 180 ℃. The effect of chitosan nanoparticles on the morphology of the surface fracture of PBS/PLA blends was investigated through FESEM and AFM. The interfacial tension between components of the nanocomposites was analysed and calculated wettability parameter revealed that nanoparticles are thermodynamically tend to both polymers.
