The silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized using hot water Achillea millefolium extract (AME) as reducing and stabilizing agent are reported and evaluated for antibacterial activity. The effect of extract concentration on the shape of the Ag nanoparticles is investigated. The data revealed that the formation of the nanosilver increased significantly with increasing extract concentration. The nature of AgNPs synthesized was analysed by UV-vis spectroscopy on the first day and after overnight reduction. The antibacterial potential of synthesized AgNPs was compared with that of aqueous AME by well diffusion method. The AgNPs at 0.05mg/ml concentration significantly inhibited bacterial growth against multi drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus).
