The development of adsorbents with high adsorption performance is an effective method of removing dyes. Therefore, CoFe2O4@MC/AC as a highly potent, magnetically separable nano-adsorbent by a facile, fast, and new microwave-assisted method with iron and cobalt salts on methylcellulose (MC) in presence of activated carbon (AC) in an alkali medium was prepared. The nano-magnetic adsorbent was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectroscopy (FESEM-EDS), mapping, the Brunauer-Emmett–Teller (SBET), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Powder XRD and EDS analysis confirmed the formation of spinel ferrites phase and chemical structure. FESEM analysis confirmed the sphere-like particle morphology of the samples. VSM analysis clearly showed the ferromagnetic nature of the adsorbent. The Ms value was 57.91 emu/g for simple separation by external magnetic fields. Considering the efficiency of the newly synthesized nanocomposites in RR198 adsorption, the highest percentage of the pollutant adsorption was achieved 83.2%. Regarding the results of this study, it is suggested that the magnetic nanocomposite can be a suitable new adsorbent for the adsorption of dye from aqueous solutions.
