Abstract: In this study scaffold based on Alginate-Polypyrrole / Hydroxyapatite-Magnetite Nanoparticles was prepared using the freeze-drying technique. Hydroxyapatite is a bioceramic, can improve the mechanical and biocompatibility properties of the scaffold by synthesizing with alginate gel. The fabricated scaffold has both magnetic and electrical properties due to existence of magnetite and polypyrrole, respectively. FT-IR analysis approved the existence of four mentioned phases in the scaffold. The scaffold has a good interconnected porous structure and pore size that was analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Finally, the MTT assays were used to investigate the cytotoxicity and viability of the L929 cells on the scaffold surface for 24, 48 and 72 hours. The results confirmed that the introduced scaffold is completely biocompatible in any concentration. The multifunctional fabricated scaffold could be used as a temporary structure for bone tissue engineering and a smart drug carrier system to transfer drugs to a targeted point in the human body and hyperthermia treatment. In conclusion, this investigation demonstrates that the fabricated nano bio-composite could potentially be applied for bone tissue engineering.
