A series of ZnO nanorods were synthesized through a simple hydrothermal method using Zinc metal granul and hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant. These nanoraods possess fascinating properties and a wide range of potential in electrochemical energy storage application because of their unique structural and large band-gap, excellent thermodynamical stability, low dielectric constant, and low refractive index. The structure, surface morphology and chemical composition were characterized by X-ray diffract (XRD), and SEM image. XRD reveals the hexagonal structure of ZnO and SEM shows the nanorods of ZnO. The electrochemical properties of ZnO nanorods were investigated by cyclic voltammetry measurements. The nanorods showed a favorable electrochemical capacitance, rate performance and cycling stability.
