Super-hydrophobic surfaces have attracted a lot of attention due to their attractive properties. Low-cost, environmentally friendly biopolymer-based biopolymer coatings with easy fabrication methods are always desirable. Carnauba wax is a natural material with suitable hydrophobicity that is used in various industries as a polisher and to create surface hydrophobicity. In this study, carnauba molten wax was used without additional emulsifiers and surfactants to produce hydrophobic materials in various applications. For this purpose, an easy ultrasonic path was created to produce wax dispersion without any surfactants or stabilizers. Since the carnauba wax chains are composed mainly of carboxylic acid and alcohols, these chains have a negative charge, as shown by the zeta potential analysis of the nano and micro suspensions. Therefore, due to the electrostatic repulsion between negatively charged wax particles, it was stable above pH 7. On the other hand, the particle size decreased with increasing sonication time as shown in the DLS analysis. Since particle size is directly related to stability, according to the results, homogeneous particles with a size of about 40 to 42 nm synthesized were suitable in terms of stability. Finally, by measuring the contact angle after the coating layer by spray method, a hydrophobic surface with a contact angle of more than 140 degrees was created.
