Medicinal fungal products, especially fungal polysaccharides, have long been used to treat various diseases. These polysaccharides improve various cancers with their antioxidant, anti-proliferative, and immune-enhancement properties. However, the effectiveness of these polysaccharides is not suitable due to their low solubility and stability. One way to increase these polysaccharides' properties is to load them into drug carriers such as solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs). In this study, SLNs loaded with the Fomes fomentarius polysaccharide (EPS) were synthesized, and its effect on gastric cancer cell lines (AGS and MKN45) was investigated. The release pattern of EPS from nanoparticles was explosive for the first 2 hours, and the next phase was the slow release of EPS. AFM images showed these nanoparticles were spherical, and their size was 250 nm. EPS and SLN-EPS inhibit the growth of gastric cancer cell lines. After 72 hours, SLN-EPS significantly (p<0.05) inhibits cancer cells' growth compared to EPS. This inhibitory effect increases with increasing concentration. The cell viability of AGS and MKN45 cell lines treated with SLN-EPS at a 200 µg/mL concentration was less than 50%. These polysaccharides and the nanoparticles containing them could be an excellent option to cure gastric cancer.
