Silica nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs) have many potential applications in environmental sciences, engineering and medicine. Although, SiO2 NPs can be manufactured in several forms, however, biological synthesis is considered to be a cost-effective, eco-friendly green route methods for fabrication of SiO2 NPs. Therefore, in this study we investigated for the first time the synthesis of SiO2 NPs using a luminescent bacterial strain Vibrio sp. VLC. Bacteria were grown in sea water complete (SWC) medium and exposed to Na2SiO3 salt solution. Then bacterial biomass were collected from reaction medium through centrifugation. The purified SiO2 NPs obtained by bacterial synthesis were characterized using UV-visible, FTIR, XRD, FESEM and DLS analysis. Results showed that SiO2NPs had a maximum peak at related UV- spectrum. Also, uniform spherical shape with Si and O content was confirmed for presented NPs using other characterization methods. Accordingly, Vibrio sp.VLC, could be considered as a suitable biological system for production of well dispersed and stable SiO2NPs.
