In this study, the structural, magnetic properties and interparticle dipole-dipole interactions in a nanocomposite of Co/Al2O3 cermet were investigated. The cermet sample was prepared using high energy mechanical ball milling of metallic aluminum powder and Co3O4 nanoparticles. The formation of cobalt and alumina phases was approved using X-ray diffraction patterns. The results show that 12 h milling of the primary powders yields a nanocomposite of Co/Al2O3 cermet. Also, electron microscopies images confirmed formation of Co/Al2O3 soft powders in nanoscale. While the initial powders mixture shows a weak paramagnetic behavior, the nanocomposite has high magnetization and shows ferromagnetic properties. The Henkel plot analysis revealed that the dipole-dipole magnetic interaction between the cobalt nanoparticles is dominant interaction in the prepared cermet. Also, the effect of interaction is more obvious as temperature reduced from 300 K to 120 K. .
