Tissue engineering has presented many opportunities to overcome serious complications especially for neuronal and photoreceptor degeneration despises. miR genes have recently shown to be effective in stem cell differentiation. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the miR-9 in photoreceptor differentiation of conjunctiva mesenchymal stem cells (CJMSCs) on the electrospun mat. The electrospinning method was used to fabricate nanofibers Silk fibroin-poly-L-lactic acid (SF-PLLA) and the fibers morphology and stem cell attachment was studied using Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). RT-qPCR was used to investigate the expression of photoreceptor-specific genes. According to obtained results, the SF-PLLA fibers represented uniform and nano-size morphology, along with supportive properties to attach stem cells. The RT-qPCR was revealed that miR-9 genes induced Rho and PKC gene overexpression in CJMSCs compare to PCDH-CJMSCs. Taking together these findings implied the potency of miR-9 in guiding CJMSCs into photoreceptor-like cells.
