A high-performance electrochemical glucose sensor based on metal organic frameworks derived Co3O4 hierarchical nanowire arrays on Ni foam was developed by a simple method. The as-prepared electrode was successfully used as a binder-free and self-supported sensor for nonenzymatic glucose detection in alkaline medium. Because of hierarchical porous structures, large accessible surface area as well as the high electrical conductivity of Ni foam, the electrochemical properties of this sensor were significantly improved. This sensor showed an ultra-high sensitivity of 1.89 mA mM-1 cm-2 with a wide linear range of 0.02 ~ 6 mM for enzymeless glucose detection. Moreover, the fabricated sensor delivered a good reproducibility for glucose detection.
